“Upon arrival at the meeting point, we were split into groups of six people. Each group had its own guide. Our guide, Mary Ann, was remarkable. She took us to five venues (a coffee shop, a community food market, a bakery, a restaurant and a street vendor) over the course of six hours. At each venue Mary Ann briefly explained the history of the place, the food offerings, how the venue fit into the life of the local community, and the local traditions for eating the food.
